Reflecting on 2018-19

Well, we’ve reached the end of another year at Edinburgh Concert Band- and what a busy year it’s been. ECB has given four performances this year. Our Christmas concert at Greyfriars was a success and very festive! March saw the return of our hugely popular Kids concert, raising £250 for Clan Child Law (https://www.clanchildlaw.org/).  We were also involved in a joint performance with Merchant Sinfonia orchestra in Glasgow. Finally, we have just had our Summer Sparkler, in support of Waverley Care (www.waverleycare.org/), raising £500.

On top of all that, we took part in the Scottish concert band festival in December, where we received a Silver Plus award. January saw ECB feature on Radio 2, when “Step Up”, composed by Gaynor Barradell, received its broadcast debut (read more in the blog here).

As we begin a two-month summer break, there’s already plenty to look forward to in 2019-20, including three more concerts before the year is out! ECB are hosting the German band, German Winds, with a joint concert at Greyfriars on Saturday 5th October. We have also been invited to perform at the Usher Hall, as part of the event “Mike McGeary and Friends” on Friday 25th October (tickets available at: www.usherhall.co.uk/whats-on/mike-mcgeary-and-friends).  And finally, we’ll have our Christmas concert at Greyfriars on Saturday 21st December.

Thank you to everyone who has supported ECB over the last year. We hope to see you all again at another ECB concert very soon.
